Bronze bust of "Lady Luck", after Giuseppe RENDA (1859-1939), unsigned, on a white marble socle. The whole 29 cm tall. Giuseppe Renda studied under Toma, Lista, and Solari, and exhibited internationally, winning prizes and acclaim. Exhibited World Fair Paris 1900 and St Louis 1904, where his bronze "After". His work includes Art Nouveau figures and busts, portraits and larger monuments.
Born at Polistena in Reggio Calabria, Renda spent the greater part of his life in Naples where he was inspired to produce his most characteristic works. His subjects, particularly his studies of street urchins, convey his fascination with street life and this lively portrait of a girl is an excellent example of this genre.
