These are delightful thematic candlesticks in brass, with a high degree of finish. The ship's wheels that decorate the balusters are enriched with brass "rope". Candlesticks with a nautical or marine theme are very unusual. Perfect gifts for the yachtsman or would be sailor! Candlesticks in ships were usually attached to the walls, with weights under the gimballed candlestick, so the stick would always remain upright. These sticks are referencing the seafaring life, but were not themselves intended to go to sea.
