1817 Signed Painted Miniature Portrait by Alvin Roberts Burt (1783-1842)

This fine Georgian miniature portrait is dated 1817 on the reverse and signed by Alvin Roberts Burt (1783-1842) Burt was a highly skilled artist and the original frame is suspended by a fitting that has the artist's name impressed, rather than the usual acorn. The pencil inscription on the reverse also records the sitter. I think it is "Randall Jenkins M A" but it is not hugely clear. This desirable George III painting is all of 11.5 cm by 14.5 cm framed: a small and exquisite treasure, just 200 years old. This is one of several miniatures in our cabinets at Camberwell Antique Centre .
