1833-1847 Sir Walter Scott Glazed Porcelain Bust (by Copeland & Garrett, formerly Spode)


Copeland and Garrett (formerly Spode)  took over Josiah Spode's manufactory in 1833. The partnership, and business name, lasted until 1847. This glazed feldspar porcelain bust fo the great author Sir Walter Scott, stands 33cm tall. It is impressed SCOTT on the reverse, and also has an impressed factory mark. beneath the socle, there is a black printed factory mark. This is a rare example since it is the image with the shoulder fur and all the hair! There are some firing cracks at the rear, and a slight one to the front. Perfect for any library wether you read Ivanhoe, Rob Roy or the Lady of the Lake (to name a couple) or not.
