1864 Moscow Imperial Russian Silver and Niello Spoon
Hallmarked for Moscow 1864, this large Old Russian Style or Panslavic spoon is the size used for cream both fresh and sour. 84 zolotnik silver (875/1000), the spoon is 16.2 cm long and weighs 36 grams. It is in splendid condition with the niello diapering in perfect condition. The maker, Feodor Ivanov, was active in Moscow 1843 to 1882, a long career.
The spoon was made during the reign of the Tsar-Liberator, Alexander II, who free the serfs between 1861 and 1866. He also sold Alaska to the United States in 1867. You win some, you lose some!
