1912 Imperial Russian Kuznetzov Plate Alexander Ist

This large 33 cm diameter Kuznetzov porcelain plate, richly gilded on a claret ground, shows the Emperor Alexander I. It was produced about 1912, celebrating the centenary of the Russian defeat of Napoleon. Pairs of gryffins stand each side of an anthemion (honeysuckle) flower, and the outer gilt rim is decoratively etched. The reverse shows the factory's backstamp inclusive of the Double Headed Eagle, indicating Imperial patronage.
