19th Century Meissen Style Vase by Meyers and Sons, Dresden
This finely hand painted vase in the manner of Meissen is the work of the decorating firm, Meyers and Sons. Apparently this firm is different form the firm L. Meyers and Sons, that Meyer being the father of Helena Wolfsohn, whose daughter would get in so much legal struggle from using faux Meissen marks. Nevertheless, this vase bears a faux Meissen mark, but with the redeeming M for Meyers below it. Characteristically, the painted scenes on the front and back are in the manner of Fragonard. The vase stands 13.5 cm tall, and is in perfect condition. The unusually cheerful handles are wearing a pink scarf emblazoned with gilt stars.
