29 piece 1860s French Dinner Set $1750


This fine 1860s hard paste porcelain dinner set is French, Napoleon III, Second Empire period. It comprises 22 plates (24cm in diameter), a tureen and lid, a large oval meat platter with mazarin, a smaller oval meat platter, a sauceboat and a comport. There is a chip to the foot of the comport and slight wear to the gilding, and a very small rim chip to one plate . The claret colour is very smart, and complements most foods. The monogramme is Mc or Cm. Are these your initials? If so, your set is here. Vieux Paris or Limoges. At this time the porcelain makers were leaving Paris for the Limoges region. Unmarked as usual.
