An 18th Century French Louis XV Table style of Hache
A fine Louis XV French games table C1780 in chestnut, with square cabriole legs and a single drawer. It is in the manner of Hache. The other table illustrated with the edge ridge is by Jean-Francoise HACHE (1730-1796, Grenoble). Recycling is virtuous, even if it involves ancient French Chateau furniture! See the additional image of a room in the Chateau de Barbantane, Provence, for the original environment of such a table.
The table in the room retains its double sided top, which was probably inlaid with chessboard on one side and tric trac board on the other. it was a separate piece, and our table has lost its top board at some stage, so it has a plain chestnut top.
77cm by 52 cm, and 75 cm tall.
