40th YEAR SALE!C1785 Louis XVI Marble Mahogany Gueridon Table

SOLD

Nr 39 of 40 (1 to go!) random objects slashed in 2019 to celebrate our 40 years trading in Melbourne, as a thank you to our clients. Was $3650, now $1600 (roll of the dice!) Sale price ends New Years Day. Yes, come December this year we will have been supplying antiques to Melbourne for 40 years.

This is a very rare piece of 18th century French furniture. The gueridon, or small table, is made of mahogany, marble and brass. This type of two tiered gueridon is called a serviteur, and corresponds to the British dumb waiter. It retains its original casters. The marble on the lower tier is cracked, but we left the original. It can be replaced in desired. It has returned from the restorer robust and fresh. A related two tier table is illustrated page 240 in a standard reference by Giacomo Wannenes called, unsurprisingly, "Eighteenth Century French Furniture."

Diameter 76 cm, and height 76 cm.
