A French armchair by Jean Boucault. Chairs by this famous chair maker can be seen at Chateau de Versailles, the Louvre, Pitti Palace, the Cammondo and Carnavalet Museums, the Getty Museum and, of course, Roy’s Antiques.

Jean Boucault (1705-1786) became a master on the 8th April, 1728, and worked from his house in Rue de Clery, where in 1737 he had ten workbenches set up for the production of chairs and related items. His clients included the Duchesse de Parme, Louise-Elizabeth, and the Duc de Choiseul.

Our chair is a polished beech fauteuil a la Reine, raised on cabriole legs. It is the Rococo, Louis XV style and made about 1750.
