C1730 George II Walnut herringbone Inlay Bureau Desk
This very splendid C1730 Baroque early George II walnut bureau rejoices in herringbone inlay decoration and "double D" molding between and surrounding the drawers. The colour is good, and this early 18th bureau is practical as well as beautiful. While no one is likely to unfurl pen and paper on it again, it provides a chest of drawers with a small footprint (56 by 96 cm) and a large multi-purpose work surface (67 cm deep and 87 cm wide) with lots of little drawers. There is a well with a sliding top inside the securely lockable work space, perfect for hiding away a laptop or tablet. All the mess of administration, sewing, computer gaming or whatever, can be instantly hidden away under lock and key. The brasses are suitable replacements and as it was in deeply neglected condition, it has been repolished. The top display surface is 108 cm from the ground. The addition of a toilet mirror makes it an excellent dressing table as well.
