C1760 PAIR signed Paris Louis XV fauteuil armchairs by Louis Falconet

$8,000.00 the graceful PAIR

This elegant pair of mid-18th century Parisian fauteuil en cabriole is in beechwood, presently with rather alarming azure covering. We sold these several years ago, and as they are still in the rather damaged azure, we can use the same image again. We are likely to recover these in the near future. The chairs are both stamped and are indeed by (there are fake stamps) "Falconet". Louis Falconet became master 9th September 1743. His father was Pierre Falconet (1683-1775), who preceded him, and the younger Falconet stayed at the workshop on the rue de Clery, under the sign "La Fidélité". The father was active between 1738 and 1750.

The lower half of one front leg is replaced.

A screen by Louis Falconet is in the Nissim de Camondo Museum, Paris. The additional image of a side chair shows one a a pair of chairs by Louis Falconet in the V&A, London. There are remarkable for retaining their original wool velvet upholstery. We are thrilled to have one fauteuil by Pail Francois Jean with its original upholstery: a real museum piece.
