C1770 George III Mahogany Fret Mirror


This charming Georgian mirror is thick mahogany veneer laid on a deal backing. Such mirror were made throughout the 18th century mostly in the Queen Anne (walnut) and Chippendale (In Mahogany) styles. There is an inner border of gilded gesso. The gilded motif o in the circular cut  out is a leaf form. Sometimes an Hoho bird fills this space. There is a small amount I of veneer loss, but the condition is generally very good. 97 cm tall and 49 cm wide.
