C1770 Louis XV Table à ecrire/Table chiffonnière

A Louis XV 18th century Table à ecrire or Table chiffonnière, en bois de placage, époque Louis XV, this delightful little two drawer table would embellish any home. The table was made near the close of Louis XVth's long and eventful reign, which is often considered the highpoint of European furniture and decorative arts design. The table is Transitional style, combining the curvilinear Rococo shown in the cabriole legs, to the new geometric severity of Neo-Classiciasm. Our table has a sliding screen to protect the complexion (and wax make up), but it has yet to be lined with fabric, as Covid has got in the way! (See additional image of similar table) The top drawer would originally have had a sliding leather writing surface, but the screw holes are all that remain, diminishing the table as an historical document, but making it much more practical for 21st century use.

70 cm tall, 51 cm deep wide and 39 cm deep.

Be aware that any furniture incorporating Dalbergia timbers originally from Brazil will need three certificates to move between countries, as a CITES requirement.
