C1780 French Louis XVI Period Fauteuil Armchair, Medallion Back

This elegant, waxed beech fauteuil en cabriole (open armchair with a concave back) is freshly upholstered in a diamond or trellis pattern typical of the late 18th century. Reglued for your safety and comfort, this neoclassical fauteuil armchair has legs that, like a classical column, are fluted, with the added refinement of the infill cables in the lower third. The set rails and medallion back are edged with rinceau or "ribbon and thread" carvings. The medallion is surmounted by a bow. All the joints, as expected, are mortise, tenon and pegged.,
