C1790 Derby ribbed Teabowl

$95.00 (HOLD M&G)

Finely painted in about 1790, this Derby tea bowl is formed with reeded or gadrooned sides. It bears a puce factory mark painted on the base. It is in excellent condition and a telling expression of the elegance associated with the end of the 18th century, the reign in Great Britain of George III and Queen Charlotte, well known (if not entirely accurately) to followers of Bridgerton. At this time coffee cups had handles but tea cups did not. In our well stocked cabinets at Camberwell Antique Centre.
