C1805 Superior George III Mahogany Secretaire Bookcase
Just back from the restorer's, a desirable faded mahogany secretaire bookcase from the very beginning of the 19th century. The secretaire section is 61 cm deep and 125 cm wide. The bookcase is 245 cm tall. The slide out secretaire drawer sits above two doors. The writing section has new gold tooled leather. Carved lion's paw feet support the front. The bookcase top features Gothick lancet arches as the muntins that hold the glass. The mahogany has faded to a luscious golden colour. Shelves are adjustable. Small footprint, extra gorgeous, huge utility. What more could one want?
It would fit perfectly onto the world of Jane Austen's "Emma":
