C1806 French Empire Paris 950 Silver Cruet by Meurice

$2,400.00

A French Empire cruet, 1806-1809, (950 silver) by Pierre-Jacques Meurice of 12 Notre Dame cloisters, Paris. His works are sought after, and a jam pot with the exact same maidens brought US$4658 at Christie's Paris, sale 1003, lot 28. This pot was slightly later: after 1809.

Our cruet appears to have the original bottles, but both stoppers are replacements. One maiden has lost her foliage garland. The piece is lavishly and clearly hallmarked, and the first silver standard: 950, somewhat above sterling standard. Ex Andre and Cecile Fink Collection.
