C1815 Rosewood Regency Whatnot Canterbury
This very splendid Georgian Whatnot Canterbury is made of the most ravishingly coloured Brazilian Rosewood. This was always an expensive timber, so only the best craftsmanship is expressed in costly Rosewood. It is also increasingly attractive, as little such Rosewood furniture will enter again Australia due to recent legislative restrictions (Jan 1, 2017), and rising prices abroad. The density of the timber allows the finest turnings in the supports that are still wonderfully robust. The base holds a single drawer, and rests on turned toupee feet with original brass casters. the vertical compartments were intended for sheet music, but now are prefect for magazines and laptops. There are two shelves for practical use or for the display of bibelot. It uses a compact footprint of 53 cm by 37 cm and rises to 102 cm.
