C1820 Biedermeier Walnut Corner Cabinet from a Transylvanian Castle!

$2,950.00 Trnsylvanian thrills!

Years ago I bought a collection of furniture and objects that came to Australia with its owner from a castle in Transylvania. I may have been more excited about the origin than the worthy objects! One piece that we did not sell is this practical Biedermeier corner cabinet. When we were building the rear showroom in 1999, the installer for the gas meter clearly could not read a plan, and we arrived to find it, not at the outside of the building, but in one corner inside the new extension. So we built a conforming cupboard for the meter and put this on top. Now that we are leaving this building in 2023, it may as well be available for sale. It has three glazed sides, and a mirrored interior. It stands 129 cm tall, on little bun feet. The two sides against the wall are 50 cm. Art deco' and Moderne compatible. Conveniently, it is freestanding so it does not have to be bolted to the wall as so most do.

I was going to use it as my personal museum, but so far it only has a piece of coal from the Titanic, a plate from Tzar Nicholas II's holiday palace, Livadia, and an empty champagne bottle. The champagne was drunk on one of my birthdays . The bottle originally belonged to Tzar Nicholas II, but the ship sank in the Gulf of Finland, so it was never delivered. It was delicious!
