C1835 William IVth Brazil Rosewood Work Table/Writing Desk

The craftsmanship on furniture made from Dalbergia Nigra, Brazilian Rosewood, is always superior. It was an expensive material, brought by sailing ship form around the world, so only the highest skilled cabinetmaker's were allowed to work it. This elegant table shows the rich allure of the central American rainforest timber. Our table has a single drawer, although drawer fronts are replicated on all four sides, so three sides are faux. The rigid fabric basket also slides out so you can store things in it. The platform and trestle supports are customary for the period. Small brass wheels are recessed under the reeded bun feet. A high quality and useful table only nearly 200 years old. Melbourne was founded in 1835.

71 cm by 45 cm, and 76 cm tall.
