C1839 French Empire 950 Silver Coffee Pot By Jean Francois Veyrat, Paris

This delightful coffee pot, although not as huge as the last one we had in stock, is much bigger than usual.: 27.5 cm tall at the handle peak. In the French Empire style made popular under the first Napoleon, and based on the shape of ancient amphorae, this coffee pot os 950/1000 silver, so a higher standard than Sterling. It was made pretty much in 1839. The Minerva head was adopted only in 1838, and Jean Francois Veyrat was dead by 1840. He plied his trade at 10, rue de la Tour, Paris. The spout terminates in a griffin's head, and the legs join the body with Honeysuckle flower overlaid with an acanthus leaf.

570 grams.
