C1840 Set 6 Spectacular Vieux Paris Dessert Plates
This exceptional set of 6 Vieux Paris dessert plates is spectacularly hand painted with floral sprays, with the cobalt blue border having three oval reserves with similar floral tributes. The gilding is extravagant and complex. There are no marks to verify the porcelain maker nor the decorator, but the plates are obviously decorated by a top artisan, such as Feuillet (connected to the Prince de Conde), Louis Marie Rihouet (connected to the Duc de Orleans) or similar. This type of lavish Sevres style plate was typically made for the returned Bourbon royalty and the repatriated Ancien Regime aristocracy, who needed to replace luxuries lost during the Revolution. Hence these plates are Restauration period: 1814-1848. Condition is excellent. 22.5 cm diameter.
