C1860 English Dessert Cabinet Plate
In "As New" condition after about 170 years, this plate was once part of a grand dessert service, although it will probably live the rest of its life behind glass. It is in the 18th century French style exemplified by Sevres. The plate has 10 lobes around the edge, with additional raised patterns framing the five reserves painted with flowers. The floral paining is over a printed linework in pink. The diameter is 24 cm.
I have not been able to identify the factory. My first thought was Minton. The plate is unusual of its kind as most such plates have three or six reserves on the border, not five. I am sure the five reserves will be the key to its identification. Naturally it is unmarked, like most of the porcelain of its time.
