C1865 Bronze of Cherub signed Louis Beataux
A French bronze statuette of a cherub by Louis Beataux (active in Paris during the reign of Napoleon III). This Second Empiire bronze shows a cherub holding aloft a poesy of flowers from which trails a windswept fabric scarf in the gravity defying baroque manner. The bronze is mounted on a turned marble socle. The whole is 21 cm tall. Signed at the top of the bronze plinth.
