C1870 Dresden Hand Painted Bowl

This Dresden bowl is copied from a form popular at Meissen in the 1870s (see secondary image). The prominent raised leves are always gilded in the Meissen ones but also the gilding is nearly always completely worn away. Similarly, this was no doubt once lavishly gilded, but there are only slight traces of gold remaining, probably making it a more attractive bowl to modern eyes. The emphasis is now on the finely hand painted spray of flowers. It is 26 cm in diameter. Hard paste porcelain.
