C1880 Chippendale Hoho Bird style Mirror in Mahogany
Elegant and in great condition, this mahogany mirror has a gilded moulding around the bevelled glass, and a gilt Hoho bird at the top. Such fretwork and veneered mirrors have been popular since the start of the 18th century. This one is in the style associated with Thomas Chippendale. It bears an American paper label on the rear, so it may well be American. Such mirrors were and are very fashionable there. being a 19th century copy, it would fall roughly into what American's usefully call "centennials": things that are made 100 years after the original.
It stands 89 cm tall and is 49 cm wide.
