C1880 French Gilt Bronze Etruscan Style Candelabrum

$675.00 with fennel and honeysuckle!

This wonderfully stylish candelabrum is in the Style Grecque or Style Etrusque and made about 1880. Some of the French objects in this style are quite startling. This gilt bronze and Belgian black slate candelabrum is in the form of an amphora decorated with a fennel plant. Dyonisis , the god of wine, carried a staff made of fennel. The decoration on the branch of five lights is of anthemion, honeysuckle flowers. It retains its original bobeche, or drip pans. 53 cm tall and 28 cm wide.
