C1880 Pair Charles X style French Mahogany Fauteuil Armchairs
In the style of the 1820s, Charles Xth, this pair of mahogany open armchairs (fauteuil) is in well caved mahogany. Made about 1880, the chairs are both reproductions and antiques at the same time. Today, nearly all new furniture for sale in Australia is a reproduction of designs first made about 70 to 100 years ago. There is not enough Modern period furniture to satisfy the demand so reproductions are produced. As with today's reproduction Modern furniture, so with the 1880s copies: the quality of construction of both copies and originals is pretty much the same.
92 cm tall, 57 cm wide and 64 cm deep.
