C1890 Chippendale style Tea Caddy (now Jewel Box ?) in Fiddleback Mahogany

Ravishing in highly figured fiddleback mahogany, this antique tea caddy is a late Victorian copy of an 18th century Chippendale type. The cabinetmaking is of a high standard and the brass Rococo style hand and keyhole escutcheon are fine quality. The interior has three compartments. Attention to detail includes ogee bracket feet, rule mouldings to the sides and top, and a concave inverted tray top. There is a bit missing form a hind foot. The patina is rich and mellow. 18 cm tall, 28.5 cm wide and 17.5 cm deep. There is a key!
