C1890 French Louis XVI style Belle Epoque Marquetry Table
A gem of a table, this little table conceals a hinged lid that opens to reveal a framed mirror. The drawer pulls out to reveal a secondary drawer running within the primary one. Even lacking these refinements the fine pictorial marquetry on the top and sides of the table sets it apart from the "run of the mill" Belle Epoque furnishings. The form is Louis XVI, with fluted, tapered legs conjoined by a shaped stretcher low to the ground. The apron of the table is inlaid with marquetry flowers, while the top features a marquetry scene of a spray of flowers, two butterflies and a bird. It stands 70cm tall 52cm wide and 37.5cm deep.
