C1890 Orientalist Bronze Snake Charmer after Joseph Wind
Joseph Wind (1864-1898) studied at the Academy in Munich. His snake charmer is a nude (apart from a turban) young woman with a serpent gliding round her shoulders like the proverbial boa, feather or constrictor. There is a version in carved ivory.
Unfortunately, ours is missing the flute. She is 32 cm tall. The circular base is impressed "WIND".
