C1897 Sheffield Sterling Silver Spoons Crested
Assayed in Sheffield in 1897 these late Victorian Albany pattern teaspoons are 11 cm long and each weighs 12 grams. The crest is, unusually, engraved on the back of the bowl. It shows an angel within a wreath. This crest is shared by the following families: Bicknall, Bicknell, Boughey, Falconer, Faulkner, Hynell and Sheridan. Remember that these are specific family lines, so any old Mr Sheridan or Mr Faulkner is probably not entitled to this crest. A specific family may have been able to be identified if we had the other two parts of the armorial: the motto and the shield.
