C1900 4 framed prints: LIthograph by Wattier, after F. Boucher

$800.00 set of 4.

The original conte drawings of gambolling cherubs are by Francois Boucher (1703-1770) which were later copied as lithographs by Emile Wattier (1800-1868). Editions were issued from the 1850s, with one in 1884, and our pictures seem to be from an Italian edition C1900.

Lithography is a printing technique using a resist method with the ink being taken by the paper from a stone panel, which has been drawn upon by wax crayons.

The modern gold frames are 38 cm by 48 cm.
