C1900 Gilded Carved Wood Chippendale style Mirror

This very handsome giltwood mirror is in the Chippendale style, and the craved wood is gilded over a red bole. The three pine cones surmounting the crest are unusual. The finely pierced foliate border incorporates two blossoms, and the very base of the mirror is carved with an anthemion, or honeysuckle flower. Baroque "C scrolls" are abundant and the top cresting features a trumpet shaped vase emerging from a sub-cresting of shell inspired rocaille. Th revealed red bole gives a warmth to the gilding and a rich patina. Some repairs to frame.

It is 14 cm tall and 61 cm wide.
