C1900(?) Qing Chinese Carved Gilded Wood Panel, Framed.

Probably a panel rescued from a piece of furniture, this deeply carved wooden panel is painted vibrant Chinese red, and then partly gilded, to give an exceptionally opulent surface. The carvings feature flowers and tendrils, along with two butterflies and a stylised pile of artistic rocks. The inclusion of an opium poppy might suggest the panel came from a bed or day bed. 45 cm wide and 29.5 cm tall, the modern frame.
