C1920 Mahogany Georgian Regency Style Armchair

Elegant, in excellent condition and recently upholstered in a smart self stripe Jacquard featuring satin and matte stripes. The 1920s chair is a copy of a c1800 George III period Thomas Sheraton style open armchair.,and is in mahogany. Reeding provides the principle decoration. Even the urns supporting the arm terminals are reeded. Reeding derives from the Ancient Egyptian reeded columns, carved to resemble a bunch of Nile reeds tied together. Reeding looks like a handfull of pencils. The opposite is fluting, where the decoration is made up of contiguous channels.

78 cm tall, 53 cm deep and 53 cm wide.
