C1925 PAIR of Miniatures by Enoch Fairhurst (1874-1945)
This pair of miniature portraits on ivory are undoubtedly a couple. They are largish: 14.5 cm by 10.5 cm. The finely painted portraits show a society couple in middle age. They look like people one would quite like to know, affable and with a sense of humour. They also had style. The man is clearly justifiably pleased with his moustache and Mada is elegantly attired in a fabulous high collared jacket with appliques. She wears pearl earrings and a pearl pendant. The are signed and dated: 1925. There is a crack in the ivory of the gentleman's portrait that fortunately misses the actual figure.
