C1950 “Art Deco’ ” Statue of an Athlete

Retro(spective), specifically refers to things made after WWII that are still in the style popular before the war. There was no money to change the machines in the factories so cars of pre-war design were produced after the war, for example. There was a design hiatus. This statue of an athlete is typical. It was probably produced as late as the 1950s, judging by the chromed plinth, but is in the Art Deco(ratif) style of the 1920s and 1930s. Chrome plated Diana lamps are a very familiar example of this: Art Deco' in style but made well after the period. He stands 28 cm tall, and the plinth is 30 cm by 10 cm.
