C1960 signed Bronze Medal by Willy Kreitz (1903-1982) of Henri van der Elst

$150.00 was $225

Willy Kreitz was a sculptor and an athlete. He played ice hockey in the 1928 and 1936 Winter Olympics. However, our interest is in his art career. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and produced many public sculptures in bronze for the Netherlands and Belgium. He won the Prix de Rome in 1932 and, unusually,  also took part in Art competitions at the 1936 Summer Olympics! Then he taught sculpture at the Antwerp Academy.
This bronze roundel is of Henri van der Elst (of whom I know nothing) C1960.
