C1968 Set of 6 Sterling Silver Cream Soup Spoons

$480.00 set 6 Cream Soups

Hallmarked Sheffield, 1968. Round cream soup spoons came into fashion at the end of the19th century, gradually replacing the pointy ones we now call table spoons, due to the prominence of pureed and creamed soups, under the French influence. Now we are likely to have hearty soup with chunks of vegetable and meat, so the old pointy soup spoons are once again more suitable for purpose. Cream soup spoons in sterling silver are comparatively rare. This set of six weighs 392 grams. Each spoon is 18 cm.
