Limoges French Porcelain Strychnine Jar

Probably made in about the middle of the last century, this Limoges hard paste porcelain blank was bought and possibly decorated by Blakeman and Henderson, a company whose primary target was the USA. The floral and line pattern stops for the inclusion of the word strychnine, so I expect the word was part of the original decoration, rather than a later addition, as one might initially suspect. It may well be a pharmacy jar.

Very handy for those with a sense of humour who want a smart sugar box, and perfect for hallowe'en, far and away my favourite of all Christian festivals. Ideal for the person who has everything!

14 cm tall and 7.5 diameter.
