Natural Rose Cut Diamond and 18ct Gold Ring, Shield Shape (@Camberwell)

This is a vintage ring in 18ct gold to which we have added an old, natural rose cut diamond, which is platinum foil backed. As man made diamonds and synthetic moissanite are now being cut as rose cuts, we specify this diamond is old and "out of the ground." The ring is a recycled signet ring. The slightly triangular diamond is 5.3 mm by 6.25mm, and 2.1 mm deep. It sits perfectly within the shield shaped platform. Rose cut diamonds are typically flat on the back, so they need a reflective foil backing to act as a mirror to make them sparkle. Silver is traditional, but we use platinum, which does not tarnish.

Rose cuts are by far my favourite types of diamonds and I frequently wear stock pins and rings with ancient rose cuts in them. Diamonds are a boy's best friend!
