Pair C1795 Directoire French Candlesticks now as Electric lamps

$950.00 (SOLD AW)

This charming pair of late 18th century candlesticks from the turbulent '90s, has been rewired to conform to Australian standards. Electrifying candlesticks  has been practised since the advent of domestic electricity supply. They can still be seen in many chateaux and 18th century apartments. However, while many countries have current that might give you a thrill, Australia's 240 volts will kill you, hence the need to rewire for your safety. They have inline switches, and a gold "silk" cord. The candlesticks without the electric fitting (brass: large bayonet) are 26 cm tall, and with hats 39 cm tall. Polished and lacquered brass.
