A very rare Mayer and Newbold sauce tureen with attached foot. C 1820 George III. The raised rose pattern is identical to that on a shaped desert plate (an example of which we had a decade ago), illustration 616 in Godden's "Staffordshire Porcelain", 1983. Mayer & Newbold operated from 1817 to 1833, at Market Place, Lane End.

Repair to lid invisible to the naked eye.
