Set of 12 1850s Viennese 800/1000 Silver Soup Spoons

$1,440.00 set of 12.

A spectacular and aristocratic (literally) solid silver soup set comprising  a dozen spoons. Each spoon is about 90 grams. They were made in imperial Vienna, capital of Austria-Hungary and centre of a huge and opulent empire. However, as most silver was melted down during the Napoleonic Wars it took even wealthy families time to replace it. The noble family that had these spoons had six spoons made in 1851. One spoon is 1852, four are 1857 and one is 1858. Each one is engraved with the owner's armorial. A Count's coronet is surmounted by the crest in the form of a rooster.
