Walnut and Brass Lamp, Rewired
This elegant lamp incorporates brass fittings form the 1870s, but the walnut pillar and the wiring are new. The walnut pillar clearly shows the entasis, the swelling at the middle, calculated by the Classical Greeks, and famously seen on the Parthenon. The 19th century fittings formerly held a column (stone, crystal or porcelain) which has not survived.
In-line switch. 42 cm to the top of the bayonet light fitting.
