Samuel John Barnes was a British landscape painter. He was born in Birmingham where he studied at the Birmingham School of Art and later in London. Barnes's best paintings were of Scottish highland landscapes including highland cattle and red deer. He painted in Royal Deesside (Balmoral Castle) where his paintings were highly regarded by Queen Victoria and also by Queen Alexandra

S J Barnes Mosely-Wake Green

Birmingham 1880"? The signature is identical in script to his usual. Wake Green Rd, Mosely, is in Birmingham.
