C1790 Louis XVI Fauteuil a la Reine Armchair Blue Silk Brocade.

A fine Louis XVI fauteuil a la Reine (open armchair with flat back: don't believe Google Translate!) made in Paris about 1780. The medallion back is characteristic of the period, as are the inverted column legs. The delicious paint is probably original. It has just been upholstered in a typical silk brocade. Pegged and mortise and tenon throughout, among other typical 18th century miracles of craftsmanship. It certainly captures all the elegance of the time of Marie Antoinette!

96 cm tall, 63 cm wide and 62 cm deep.
